Hi, Emily, thank you so much for joining me today.
Emily King
Thank you so much, Abby.
Abby Herman
I am really excited to chat and to learn from you about some of the things we’re going to talk about. I really can’t wait. But before we dig in, can you introduce yourself to the listeners and let us know what you do and who you do it for?
Emily King
Yeah, so my name is Emily King, and I’m a wealth and abundance coach. I’ve been doing this coaching gigs since 2015. And I help women entrepreneurs make more income and impact doing what they love. So that’s, that’s the short and sweet. And then the more personal side is I’m up in Canada. For the listeners done the US and yeah, married to wonderful husband and a little wiener dog, Charles.
Abby Herman
I saw him on your website and…
Emily King
Super yeah. And it’s his birthday today, too. is five today. So Oh, he’s been spoiled today. Yeah, this looks a little bit about me.
Abby Herman
That’s fun. Can you share a little bit about how you work with clients? And then how does the way you run your business, the way you work with your clients? How does that help you to live the lifestyle that you want?
Emily King
Oh, that’s, that’s a big question. Okay. Where do we begin? So the big as most of us in the entrepreneur world have heard, it’s like 80% mindset 20% strategy. Sell me I even heard some go to the extreme of you know, success is 99% mindset 1% strategy. I think it was James Wedmore, who I heard him say on his podcast one time. Yeah, I believe it was him. Any. So that’s, that’s my approach, because what we’ll probably get into here today is I’ve learned from personal experience that when I focus on the mindset, beliefs, expectations for myself, it has a drastic impact on what I see in reality. And for anyone who’s into Abraham Hicks, I was listening to something there the other day, so they’re very in the Whoo, very on the spiritual side of things. And they were saying that 99% of all manifestations, basically everything that we see in reality first happens in vibration, which I know might sound like totally out there. Whoo for some of your listeners. And it’s that last 1% that’s the physical aspect. So that’s really what I’m super super, super curious when I dive in with clients to just ask them 1,000,001 questions to figure out what limitations have they placed on themselves and how can we debunk them and reprogram them and come in from the NLP background? I heard NLP once described as the study of success or like understanding the science of success. So NLP, we in NLP, we really want to understand what are the habits and the the almost think of it like a computer programming in a person who’s successful, versus someone who we might see as unsuccessful, or, you know, struggling in a certain area, so that I just get super curious with my clients and got tips and tricks and you know, 1,000,001 ways, and some of them we’ll talk about today on how I dive into those things, to explore them, change them and rewrite them into what they want.
Abby Herman
So can you explain a little bit about NLP what that is and what it means?
Emily King
Yeah, so NLP is neuro linguistic programming. And like I was saying earlier, basically, it’s, it’s understanding what is going on in the brain to basically, I guess, in a sense, like boxes in in one in one regard. And so it’s just so far, and there’s so many layers and LP, and like I shared earlier with you before we hit record was like even I’m curious to go to the Masters level to go even deeper into this. But some fascinating things, okay. There’s some interesting things that happen in the brain on a very unconscious level that now don’t make it aware to your audience, they’ll become more aware of it. So typically speaking, when we think of something negative that’s happened to us. If I already know not that I want you to go into a negative rabbit hole here. But if I were to say, think of a time in your life, when you really afraid or you’ve had a lot of anger or whatever? And I would just say, what does that look like? What does that picture look like in your mind? Typically speaking, this is probably nine times out of 10. It’s dark is blurry, it’s unfocused. And it can kind of be either or sometimes there’s no sound at all, or sometimes there’s a lot of sound.
And if there’s a physical sensation to it, typically it’s in the chest, because people will hold a lot of stress in their chest. Versus on the flipside, if I were to say to you happy, think of a time in your life, when you were in total bliss, total joy, just over the moon, elated and happy. What does that picture look like? Typically, it’s a lot more brighter, it’s a lot more colorful. The sounds are really like warm and inviting. So I didn’t tell you these things ahead of time, like go into the darkness, like, you know, what our brain does unconsciously does that. So there’s he’s even in terms of spinning, when people say, my mind is racing, like a mile a minute, and sometimes I know people can’t see this on the podcast, but they’ll do this, this action with their finger where they’re just spinning their finger like this. I had a client one time doing this action. And I said to her, because she was really stressed out about something I said, Can you say the exact same thing to me? But just rotate your finger counterclockwise now like, opposite direction? She could not say the same thing back to me. Really? Yeah, really. She was like she was trying to say, and she’s trying to the motor, she’s like, I can’t do it. So it broke the state, it broke this habitual pattern that the brain just had on like, default mode. And so it’s really exploring these patterns. So even in terms of limiting beliefs, okay, when you think about, I’m really scared to show up on social media, okay, what color is associated with that, what feeling is associated with that, and let’s just play with it and change it. Because it’s really fascinating how changing the color, the spin direction of the thought, the size of the all sorts of different what we call sub MOBA sub modalities can really impact how they feel about something quite quickly. Hmm, interesting.
Abby Herman
So let’s, let’s talk about let’s let’s relate it to business. So we’re, you know, the listeners are running their own businesses, they’re struggling in business, or trying to find footing or something isn’t going right. And I mean, I follow up into Instagram accounts, where people say, you know, you need to think positively and have these affirmations on your desk and do the mindset work. And, you know, you can manifest the sales and all of that. And I told you, before we hit record, that is not how I typically think, you know, and I, to me, it’s like, you take the action, you plan out the action, you do the action, and you get the results. Yeah, but it sounds like this, the affirmations and the mindset work. And all of that comes, does that come before the planning? What does that look like? And and how do we start adding that or I guess, before we even talked about how to add it into our business practice? What’s the benefit of it? And what does it actually look like?
Emily King
So I’m a bit crazy with it. I’m just looking around my office here. Oh, here it is. I have a whole binder, like I got so crazy with it, I have a whole binder of affirmations typed up. Different I call it stalking. So for example, people out there, I know what a limiting limitation I used to have was getting a new funnel out into the world. And I was like, oh, that it feels so spammy. And people, you know, won’t think it’s valuable and blah, blah, blah. So I was I was like spinning my wheels with getting a new funnel out there because I discovered all these limiting beliefs. So I literally sat down and I wrote a stack of 50 reasons why my funnel would be amazing, and how it would be so helpful. And I like to say, or remind myself, I know I’m not the original one saying this, but success is a habit. And I’m not. That’s why you you you rarely, I don’t know maybe there are some unicorns out there, but you rarely hear the best of the best in whatever Avenue like of success that people aspire to be like, you know, next Oprah Winfrey or Tony Robbins or whatever, Serena Williams, you rarely hear these people saying,
Yeah, I did it once. And I’m good to go now. It’s a daily habit. So I know. Like even I was reading in Forbes the other day, Oprah Winfrey. Jane Fonda authors like Kate Hudson, all sorts of people who are successful meditate every single day. Because it’s not a one and done. And so I’m a bit more liberal, I guess I’ll say in terms of the affirmations and meditation, there’s some people because I one thing that kind of annoys me a little bit about the more mindset world is when some people kind of put the fear of God in you. It’s like you don’t do it. This certain way, if you don’t think positively all day, every day and start your day with meditation and affirmations, and blah, blah, blah, your whole day is gonna be ruined and you can’t be successful. It’s like no, like, you get to be imperfect with these habits and be successful. So to answer your question of like, do you start it with it? Yeah, I start my day with it just because it’s like priming me to have the best day. Do you have to start with it? Well, like, I do recommend people start their day with it. Because of the fact that like, willpower gets dwindles as the day goes on. You know, like, by the end of your day, if you’re super tired, and you know, you’ve had a crazy day, maybe the last thing you want to do is go read your affirmations or go meditate. So better to start your day with it, then end with it. But no, there’s no hard rules on you have to do it in the morning, or you have to do 20 minutes of affirmations. And then you’re good to go. It can be one, it could be one affirmation and it could be simple. Like, I’m just looking at my wall here now because like I have I posted on my wall, I have one on my wall here that says I will take the upgrade. Okay, it’s just my my reminder of like, think bigger, expect bigger, I will take the upgrade, please. And thank you.
Abby Herman
And by upgrade, you mean like somebody who’s buying something from you, they’re upgrading to the next level? Is that what it came from?
Emily King
It’s funny, it kinda is a more generic generic thing, like a general thing. It can be that it could be like, you know, what my clients take the upgrades. It was, um, it can be even something as simple as going to the grocery store. And maybe you want to buy the organic apples, but you’re like, no, I couldn’t. It’s an extra dollar. Like, yeah, right. But it’s like, no, take the upgrade, like you deserve to have the upgrade. So it’s just an all over, I will take the upgrade. It’s about like stepping into that greater life, that more rich life for yourself, whatever that looks like.
Abby Herman
So tell me, you start your day with affirmations, mindset work manifesting? What does all that like? For someone like me? Who doesn’t do any of these things? How do you get started? What does that look like?
Emily King
So at this point in my life, pretty much my non negotiables and meditation, and I know you mentioned before we started is that you’re diving into it, which makes me super excited. And I don’t know if they’ve talked about this already. But it doesn’t have to be, you know, sitting on a meditation pillow saying Ohm for 20 minutes and having zero thoughts the whole time. Like that’s impossible. Well, maybe it’s not impossible, but it’s near impossible. I typically find my good groove is a meditation that’s anywhere from like, eight to 12 minutes. And so at this point, in my career, I’ve been doing meditation for so long that I actually created a ton of them. So I have like a library of over 30 meditations that I’ve created myself that I listened to. So that’s my staple. If if I miss the other things in the running my day, that’s okay. But I have to start with my meditation, even if I’m on vacation. So I remember I was I traveled to California a couple years ago, two years ago, I don’t need to metadata on my vacation here and with my friends, I’m good. But as the vacation went on, I found it was really out of balance, I guess I’ll say. So yeah. So that’s one thing that of all the tools out there I would recommend would be to start with meditation because it has you coming back to yourself. It has you coming back to your own inner voice and really decluttering all the thoughts, right of like, what your Aunt Sally is telling you to do, versus what you want to do. And the kids shouting or the kid, whatever it is just coming back to yourself. So that’s what I would recommend people out there listening are doing none, nothing.
Start with meditation and let it be imperfect. And so that’s where I start, but my routine is, typically it’s meditation, and then I get into journaling. Now, if people have never journaled before, you can do it before meditation, you can do it after you could do it anytime today, really, there’s no rules on it. Some people actually find it really helpful to journal before they meditate. Because if you already have your laundry list of like, Oh, I got to do this today. And I go to that and like, well, I gotta call this person back. But like, get it all out before you meditate. Yeah, just to kind of get declutter your brain before you sit to kind of settle down. Mm hmm. And actually, I heard just a friend of mine today was sharing with me that she’s practicing writing three pages of journaling, just free, right? It can be anything at all to be like, I love the weather today. It could be anything at all, but just committing to three pages of writing just to get the thoughts out there and to get back to yourself. So all journal, typically I like to journal actually after meditating. And then like I shared with you earlier at this point in my life, I have my binder of affirmations and so I’ll read through them and like because I’m so hardcore, and This stuff, I actually have a recording of them too. So if I’m like, you know what, I don’t want to sit here and read my affirmations, I guess I want to, I need to go get ready, then because I have them recorded, I can just hit play and go eat my breakfast, do whatever get changed, put my makeup on, was listening to my affirmations. So that’s actually what I did this morning, I listened to them.
Abby Herman
I like that that’s I, I’m a big podcast listener in the morning. So I will listen to podcasts. While I’m getting ready in the morning, I’ll listen to it while I’m making breakfast while I’m eating breakfast and all of that because it’s something I can I can do. While I am busy doing other things. And I and granted some of them, I probably don’t hear everything that I need. Yeah, but I feel like it’s a really good, better use of my time than like sitting and reading a blog, or, yeah, I have a hard time I sit still I sit at my desk enough every day. To be able to move around. I listened to podcasts while I’m walking my dog. So I could do something like that with listening to affirmations.
Emily King
And even to your point about listening to podcasts and like now affirmations, you can actually take meditation with you on the go. So last month, my clients and I, we were doing a 40 day prosperity challenge that I had. And included in that was we had to meditate every single day for 40 days. And after about halfway through. And I was kind of surprising myself because I do this every day anyways, but about halfway through it start to get a little bored. And so I decided, you know what, I’m going to shake this up. And I’m going to take these meditations with me when I go for my walk along this river that’s near my house. So I hit play. And I just listened to the beautiful music and I listened. And most of my meditations that I have are guided visualizations. So there’s, you know, some chatting there and I kind of walking you through different visualizations. So beautiful. So I’m just kind of slowly walking along the river, taking it all in breathing nice and slow. So to me that if people go out and take their dog for a walk for 10 minutes, or even, you know, if you’re washing dishes, it can be quite simply putting on some nice calming music and just maybe each dish is you like, put it into the dish rack. You just like take a deep breath in and a deep exhale. And there you go. That can be like your meditative moment for the day.
Abby Herman
Yeah, like that idea that you can do it in a way that works for you. It doesn’t have to look the same for everyone, which I has. I mean, that’s what I believe businesses like to and marketing is that it doesn’t have to be the same for everybody. It can be. It can be different. It can be what works for you, because you’re more likely to stick to it. If it actually works for you.
Emily King
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Like we don’t have to meditate like a monk. We can meditate like an Abby or Emily.
Abby Herman
Yes, yeah, yeah. So you talk about money personality, can you? Can you talk a little bit about what that means? And how do we figure out what our own money personality is? Because I think that this for business owners, I think, you know, really is so important, both from the business financial aspect and our own personal money as well.
Emily King
Yeah. So last year, so I’m always looking on ways to how I can enhance my coaching and learn something new and pass it along. And last year, I discovered this woman, Kendall Summer Hawk, who has a program called sacred money archetypes. And so I took this program got certified as a sacred money archetypes coach. And basically what it is, is I understand the eight money personalities that we have. And so we’re I loved it so much. I could talk for hours on that sound like okay, how do I be brief? So basically, it’s just like any personality test and I don’t know about you, but I remember years ago when I first heard of like, Myers Briggs and, and even even just the concept of an introvert versus versus an extrovert, it was like eye opening, because I was like, What do you mean, there’s people who go out and actually get like, fueled by a party like that everyone’s like, I was like, up until that point, I just assumed
Okay, yeah, people go out to parties and have fun, but like, by the end of it, like you’re ready to go home and like, call it a day call it like a week. Yeah. So that’s fascinating, but money personalities just because we we kind of assume that people are like, people are either just like us, or maybe the complete opposite of us is like, so let me give you the rundown on the archetypes now. Make sure not to forget any here. Um, so there’s a maverick, which is the more risk taker, high risk, high reward type person. So I and just to back up with the money personality test, just like any personality, you’re kind of graded on different things. So I might have elements of an extrovert but I’m definitely not considered an extrovert. But there may be like elements of that so much like money personalities, you’ll get a mark, if you will for each personality. And some people take the test and they’re very close with all of them. And some people take the test like myself, and they’re like, night and day with different ones. So my, the biggest thing to look at are your top three.
So my top three are Maverick ruler, and accumulator. So I’ll give you the rundown. So the maverick is the high risk, high reward. So that makes sense for me, because like, I like real estate investment. So that’s a hot like, real estate investment. Like that’s big money you’re talking about when you’re doing that. It’s not like you’re just figuring out which I don’t know, perfume to buy at the store, whatever like, like a big deal. So I’m a maverick, the ruler is the inner Empire Builder. And so that’s the person that typically has a hard time stopping to smell the roses, because numbers motivate them very much so. So I’m very much fueled by metrics. And I need to be so that each personality has like a gift. And each personality has a shadow side with it that we need to kind of be careful of. So with the ruler, I need to be careful of not celebrating. So I could have literally the best day in my entire career, like a launch out of the park. And I’m in the moment of like, Oh my god, it’s amazing. Next day, I’ll get up be like, Alright, what’s the next thing? Right? That’s a ruler in a nutshell, the accumulator. That’s the inner banker. These are the people who will hoard their money, like there’s no tomorrow. And so these are the people who get a lot of safety and security from their money. So in terms of a business perspective, if people out there listening typically find it a little harder to invest in things, it’s probably because they’re an accumulator, where they’re, like, need that assurance of like, Okay, if I’m gonna give you my $1,000, can you assure me that I will actually make a return on this? Like, am I gonna is it gonna be worth my money, because there’s a lot of security around that. Now the positive is, they’re great with like, they are the person who are very responsible with their money, they know, you know, where their money is going. They’re not, they’ll never find themselves in financial turmoil because they know where every penny and dollar is going.
So it knowing your combination and kind of your strengths and shadow sides of it is very important. So I know that accumulators in me, but I’ve very much worked on that shadow side. And it pairs nicely with for example, my Maverick where the risk taker in me is very much balanced by the accumulator where like, I’m like, Okay, well, well, well, we’re not like doing anything crazy here. We don’t know any of the stats on this risk. But it’s very much a calculated risk in my, in my case, like I’m okay with taking bit of risk, but like calculated risk, yeah, then we get into things like celebrity. So celebrity are those people that love the spotlight. They love the flashy goodness, they’re like the Kardashians are written all over them. Like, like all the glamour and glitz, which is fantastic. But oftentimes, people who are celebrities sometimes can feel torn, because where people might say like you’re being too much. Or maybe they feel like maybe they have people in their lives who aren’t natural celebrities, or like have that money personality. So they might feel judged by people around them. And so maybe they tend to kind of dim their light, but that doesn’t come naturally to them. So it’s just kind of this inner turmoil. The thing with celebrities, though, is they got to be careful not to try to buy the approval from others.
So they can typically get themselves into financial trouble because it’s like, I don’t care how much it cost or how much debt I need to go into this. I just need this thing because I need to look good and feel good and you know, have that approval. Then we get into romantic romantics, a classic romantic is the person that says I deserve this. So they’ll look at like, I don’t know the spa menu and be like, I’m going to book in for the 90 minute massage because I deserve it like it’s the work hard play hard kind of thing or maybe not even work that hard. It’s just I’ve worked and I’m going to play with my money. So that’s a beautiful thing where they get to like love and enjoy the pleasure of their money and just yet loving all the goodness that money can bring to them. But they can kind of have a bit of ignorance is bliss, where they they will go too much into like I deserve this and I want to take this trip and all that kind of thing because it feels so good. But meanwhile, they’re like just breaking even with their savings or like maybe they’re going into debt for it. Then we can get into the who am I missing now. The Alchemist. The Alchemist is the person who has a million of one ideas and there was no shortage of like inspiration and there that person that I had a friend like like I’m pretty sure she like a new business every day.
Abby Herman
I know some of those.
Emily King
Yeah, and it’s fantastic. Like they’re so creative, they, they just love to help people. But for the alchemists, the fortune is in the follow through. So the alchemists kind of wishes that their businesses could just automatically make money. Like, it’s like, Can you just let me do the ideas and somebody else just like, give me the money, right? Because like getting into the money kind of metals with their passion, where the money starts to feel icky, and it feels like it starts to take away from the intention. And so then they kind of back away, and then they move on to the next idea, right. And then there’s a connector, which has some of the qualities of the alchemists where they are very much, they just love people, they love networking, once again, they kind of have the ideas like they could, they could love to do the ideas and love to dive into things all day, every day. But they’re the good thing about them is they always know and trust that money will come through for them. But they don’t show up to typically take financial responsibility, meaning, while they while it’s lovely that they have faith and optimism, like all is going to be well I know financially, like I’m not going to be on the streets, but they might let their partner take care of the finances.
So they might actually be running a very successful business and actually have a client of mine now, which is a very successful business. But what we’re working on now is she has no idea where her money like what’s going on with her money, like she’s doing well, she knows she’s doing well all as well. It’s not like she’s going bankrupt. But they don’t like to take a close look at the numbers, because it’s just about like, how can I help people? I don’t want to look at the numbers because this is gonna get iffy for me. And then, last but not least, is the nurturer. So nurturers are very good with their money. They say they have some of the qualities of the accumulator, they’re good with their money. But as the as the name kind of implies, nurturer people depend on them to for them to nurture. So they’re the first person that people will come to when they’re short, you know, a few bucks to pay their credit card bill. And they’re in an a business perspective, things can get tangled because nurturers typically don’t have the greatest boundaries. Cuz they just want to help people. And so and having boundaries, they can feel mean, or they can feel like they’re shutting people out. And all that’s not fair. They can’t afford it. And so they typically find themselves in trouble by getting themselves like walked all over by other people. Mm hmm. That’s the the archetypes of money personalities in in a nutshell there. There’s lots of things to explore there. But yeah, so I hope that gives your listeners an idea. I know, I know, I’ve shared these in other podcasts before. And people come back to me afterwards. And they’re like, I’m pretty sure I’m a nurturer. based off of what you said. Yeah.
Abby Herman
So how do we, first of all, how do we find out or figure out what our money personality is? And then how do we put that into practice or into use inside of our businesses?
Emily King
Yeah, so I’ll send you a link, you don’t have this. As of now, I’ll send you a link where they can go take the quiz. So it’s kind of like eight minutes, eight ish minutes to take the quiz. And then you’ll you know, obviously, look at your results afterwards. And then I can send you a PDF of you know, what all this means based off of your results. And so yeah, it all depends. So for example, me, like I said earlier as the ruler, once I once I looked at that I was like, Oh my god, yes, I am that person who doesn’t stop to smell the roses. I immediately actually was looking around Oh, here it is. It’s empty now because I just emptied it for February. But this is my joy jar. And so knowing that I’m not typically one to celebrate myself, and I need to consciously work on that because I’m the ruler who’s just go, go, go, go, go get the next goal. Now every day, and I’ve just restarted for the month of March.
Now every day, I put on a little piece of paper slip that I already have pre cut. One thing that I’m proud of that day that I did, and I put it in my jar. And then at the end of the month, I empty out my jar, I read all the positive things and it’s that it’s that reassurance that like, you know, coming back down to like, Alright, Emily, you did an amazing job. Celebrate yourself, look at all the wonderful things that just happened. So yeah, depending on their archetype, and the combinations or archetypes, it can be really helpful. Even if people out there have romantic partners in their lives. It’s really good for them to do it as well. Because, for example, my husband and I have complete opposite archetypes. So it finally made sense. He’s the nurturer. And that’s my lowest one by far. And so it all made sense, where it would drive me nuts when he would lend out money and then never hear back from them or be like, Oh, yeah, they’ll pay me back. Like, we joke about his payment system. When brothers so they often like oh, yeah, I’ll just pay for that. Or Yeah, whatever. You can pay that and like, who knows, like one of us could owe each other $1,000 and we’ll never know. Cuz they don’t keep track. Yeah. So me the accumulator, like knows every dollar and Penny, it drives me nuts.
Abby Herman
Yeah. And so you have a formula, you call it the life changing formula mindset plus action equals massive results. Can you Yes, talk about what that means and how we can use that formula in our business?
Emily King
Yes. So to give a little backstory to it back in 20 Oh, actually, I technically started my business in 2015. But I don’t know if some of the listeners here can relate where if you have the security net of something else, so I still have my nine to five at the time. So my business was very much a side business. And by the time the middle of 2016 came, so 2015 I gotten some clients it was it was all kind of fine and dandy. And then 2016 came in between January and August, I had read all the things I had taken all the courses, I done all the things. And at the end of the day, between January and August of 2016, I had only made $97 from my business. So I had even gone to like a Tony Robbins convention like the four day, what was it unleash the power within like, it was like doing the rah rah stuff. And I came home and I was just like, What is wrong with me. And so I realized, I’m doing all this mindset work, and I’m not doing any action. And so I realize I have got to take action on these things. So 2016, I gave myself an ultimatum in August of that year, I said, Emily, if you do not have a new client, by the end of this month, you are shutting down your business. And immediately, the the idea started to come to me, but I started taking action on them. So before the ideas would come to me, but I would talk myself out of it of Oh, I gotta figure out, you know, the best landing page to put this out. Let me research how to have the best landing pages to get the best conversion rates and let like, you know, all the things progress, the productive procrastination and actually getting the work done.
Abby Herman
Yes, I love that.
Emily King
Yeah. So because I had given myself such a short timeline, and like a very strict ultimatum, it was like, No, like, there’s no time to overthink this. So literally, I had an idea to do a workshop for a group of women that I knew could use my help. And I literally texted It was my sister that I knew could kind of arrange this. I literally just texted her. I said, Hey, do you want me to do a workshop for your team next week? like it’ll be around money mindset, you know, we’ll figure it out. And she was like, Yeah, sure. How is Tuesday at like, you know, 6pm sounds perfect. From that point on, my business did 5000 that month, the next month, it did 5000 5000 ish, like five to 6000. So it was August, September, then October that month, I think I think for about three months at hover around that like 5k six Kaymer, so it was consistently during the 5k months. Then November came, and I finally got my button gear to do a launch of a program that had sat on for over a year. Literally, you can go back and you can scroll back through my face of where I like, announce it as like, I’m going to do this challenge, then ghosted on my audience for a year finally did that challenge that ended up being a 20k launch for me. Wow. Yeah, that I had sat on for over a year. So that’s when I was really like, Okay. mindset without action is BS. Yeah, so I really just and I don’t know if you’ve heard of what Laura Bell gray. But she has one of her philosophies is velocity like that. She calls it the three V’s of velocity, volume and visibility. And it’s kind of the same thing, like the velocity, just like get the action out there before you talk yourself out of it. Because I’m all like, as you know, I’m all for the affirmations. I’m all for the journey and the meditation, but at the end of the day, if there is nothing to show for it, there’s something amiss. Yeah. Like, there’s still a limiting belief going on there. Because we’re not showing up to take the action. There’s still a lingering limiting belief that is the more powerful one. That is saying, You can’t do that. It’s gonna be a big failure. People will judge you or whatever the limitation is for people that’s holding them back. Yeah.
Abby Herman
Yeah, that’s so true. I am a big believer in taking action. I don’t necessarily do the mindset as much. But I know that you have to take action and I know that you know, you. I see people all the time that they have these great business ideas and, and they want to, you know, do all of the things, but yet they’re stuck in the doing the research and planning it all out and making it all perfect when in reality You just need to do the thing, like, you just need to start and do that first thing, it’s not going to be perfect. And that’s okay. You just do it. And then you piggyback on that. And you use that as kind of your momentum to keep growing and to keep doing so I can totally see the value in doing the mindset work at the beginning, too, as long as it doesn’t hold you back from actually taking the action.
Emily King
Yeah, the mindset. And this is kind of the my, my claim to fame, I guess, in my business is the mindset for me. And this is what I teach has expedited the action, meaning I’ll give you an example. So actually, that 20k launch, let me just use that. I, I was so on with my mindset during that launch, that launch shouldn’t have happened from industry standards, meaning my email list size at that time was 120 120. People give or take, the program was 1000 bucks. And I was capping it at 20 people. So I had 20 people sign up at the $1,000. Actually, there were some payment plans. So I think it ended up being like 22,000 ish, or something that I made, that shouldn’t have happened like to have 20, like 20 people, 120 people on my email list, sign up is a ridiculously high conversion rate. And I didn’t have a website, I did no ads. It was purely just word of mouth. And I the one thing that I loved that felt good based off of my mindset, and like, this is where I love to show up is just my Facebook groups, my facebook group had 200 people in it. So most people and even like if a client came to me today and said, like, Oh, I have a Facebook group and 200 people and I just have my email list 125 people, but I want to do 20k launch. And I would probably be like, okay, let’s grow your list a little more.
So the logical can sometimes kind of talk us out of or or, or prolong and add steps to the to do list that might be unnecessary. And so I find my mindset really expedites the process. I remember even when a few years ago, when I wanted to have my first 25k cash month, I was doing a meditation and this and the thought came to me of like, Okay, what are all the things that I think I need to do in order to hit this and I was like, you need to do a challenge. You need to do Facebook ads, and you did like all like, it was like got a laundry list of like 25 things that I thought I had to do to hit a 25k a month. And then I just tuned in of like, okay, universe, how can we make this hell of a lot simpler than this? And literally one idea came to me that I then implemented because the action right, so just as one idea that I implemented, one thing led to another and next thing you know, I have sales calls booked in, and the very next month, I hit my 25k a month. Wow. So I and I didn’t need to do a big challenge. I didn’t need to grow my email list by 1000. People like none of the things I was telling myself I needed to do in order to hit the goal happen. It was just simple, effective and efficient ideas that came to me through stilling my mind through journaling, or meditation, or just getting outside in nature. Those simple thoughts that can come to us so much easier when we’re not in the weeds. Really expedite the results that we get.
Abby Herman
He has that is that is what this podcast is all about. That’s what my business is all about. Like the little things, it’s the little things you don’t need to do a big huge overhaul you don’t need to do. Yes, you do need to do some research. And you do need to, like know what you’re doing. But it doesn’t need to take forever to do you just take action, just do it.
Emily King
Just do it like Nike thing and just do it. Just do it. Just do it.
Abby Herman
Yeah, this is all so good. Um, you have a meditation bundle. And can you share what that’s all about? And how people can find that so that they can start getting in that right mindset?
Emily King
Yeah, so I wanted to make it really easy for people to dive into the meditation world. So I bundled together three of my favorite meditations. And one is nice and short and sweet. One is just five minutes. And it’s short and sweet but powerful. And it’s like a you can play it whenever it’s meant to be a morning affirmation type thing, but I’ve actually had clients listen to it before they go to bed and then put them right to sleep. Good, perfect. And then there’s two meditations in there. There’s one called next level meditation. And this one I actually listened to pretty consistently before I did my ever my first ever six figure launch. So that’s why I want to share because I’m like, Guys, this is this was like one of my secret sauce ingredients to that six figure launch. So I included that one, the next level of meditation. So it’s like a pump up. Yeah, let’s rah rah, let’s do this. And then there’s another meditation in there called activate your desires. So it’s similar kind of energy where you take you know, these dreams and these goals that are kind of floating around and we really bring them down to earth really help you feel them really help you so that you when you open your eyes, you’re just like, oh my goodness, I feel so ready to just move forward with you. Like you just feel so inspired and motivated to just take that action. So that’s the three that I bundled together that I felt could really help entrepreneurs. And they’re, I believe they’re all 10 minutes or less. And for the most part, like I walk you through the whole meditation, there’s a few minutes within each of them where you kind of have that moment to just chill with yourself in the music, but for the most part, I talk you through them and guide you through them.
Abby Herman
Awesome. I’ll include a link to that it’s Emilyking.ca. Is that the right URL? Okay. Yeah. How do we connect with you and and find out more about you?
