You’re convinced you need a blog for your business (you do!) and you’re ready to move forward. Whether you decide to work with a developer and professional blogger or go the do-it-yourself route, there are a number of key things to keep in mind.
Use Headlines
Search engines pay attention to headlines and subheadings. Make your headlines engaging and keyword-heavy. This ensures that your ideal audience see your blog post, and they will click on it to read it!
Find quality images
Not only do images help your post get noticed on social media, they are also a good place to store keywords for better search engine optimization. Name your image appropriately and utilize alt-tags, captions and the image description.
Be Consistent
Consistency is a stickler for many busy professionals, myself included. I can tell you that when I blog for clients, I am consistent 100 percent of the time. Why? Because they’re paying me to make sure blog posts publish when and where they want. When blogging for myself, I’m not nearly as consistent as I should be.
To stay consistent, work with an accountability partner—someone who checks in with you to see how you’re doing. Producing my content in batches (a whole month at a time) helps to make sure I stay on track. And you can always hire someone and guarantee it will get done!
Use your About Page
People visiting your blog want to know more about you. It builds credibility and provides your audience an opportunity to get to know and like you. No matter what your industry, use your about page to tell a little about you and your story.
Quality, Relevant Content
You’ve got your audience coming to your blog; now you want to keep them there! Provide quality, relevant content that gives value. Don’t give away all your secrets, but give your audience information that they can use.
Blogging is a sure-fire way to grab your audience and give them a place to grow to know, like and trust you. But consistency, search engine optimization and relevant content are must-haves on any blog.
